Compensation for Excessive Rewards in Co-op

24.04.17

Masters of the Book

We apologize for the issues caused by the Hero’s Shoes error, and we would like to explain how we are going to be distributing the compensation for it.

Since Shoes are the basic currency of Adventure, and the value of shoes changes depending on the Adventure Level as the Drop Rates change, much care and thought needed to be put into the response. The development team has been working hard to provide fair and reasonable compensation, and we plan to proceed according to the following rules.

1. We have organized the criteria for compensation based on Adventure Level 6 or higher, where the efficiency of shoes increases as Legendary grade items and ascension materials appear, and their drop quantities improve.

2. We have conducted a comprehensive investigation of all cases of co-op at Adventure Level 6 and above, and plan to impose sanctions on the top groups who showed a significant variance compared to normal play cases.

First, let’s detail the investigation.

We conducted a thorough investigation into all instances of party play at Adventure Level 6 or higher. From the start of the game’s service until April 16, before the issue was fixed. Below are the findings of our investigation.

Criteria

# of participants

More than 50 times

31 - 50 times

180

21 - 30 times

375

11 - 20 times

998

The majority of players consumed 10 or fewer Hero’s Shoes, averaging 1.9 shoes through party play. Cases where more than 30 Hero’s Shoes were consumed in party play accounted for approximately 1.8% (the maximum amount consumed being 59 Hero’s Shoes).

In cases where more than 30 Hero’s Shoes were consumed, the extent of the amount of Hero’s Shoes consumed is deemed atypical compared to other cases, with a pretty significant gap. Therefore, we will consider it as abusing the system and proceed with sanctions according to the following rules.

Criteria

Scope of Restrictions

More than 50 times

7-day Restriction

31- 50 times

3-day Restriction

Excluding the aforementioned cases, we set the benchmark at 30 Hero’s Shoes (equivalent to 2,400 Adventurer’s Shoes), which represents the highest usage among the remaining cases. Considering experience rewards, guaranteed rewards and drop rewards, we calculated the maximum limit at 45 Hero’s Shoes, which is 1.5 times the benchmark.

The compensation will be calculated individually for each Master of the Book, and will be based on the amount of shoes consumed during the period of this error.

Compensation will be paid according to the criteria listed below.

1.    Calculate the total amount of shoes consumed between April 2, 2024 and the fix that was applied on April 16, 2024

-        Adventurer’s Shoes used + (Number of Hero’s Shoes x 80)

2.    Calculate the number of Hero’s Shoes used in co-op at Adventure Level 6 or higher

-        The number of Hero’s Shoes used in co-op (2 or 3-player) at Adventure Level 6 or higher x80

3.    Compensate with Hero’s Shoes equivalent to 1.5 times the quantity of shoes remaining after excluding the number of Hero’s Shoes used in a party at Adventure Level 6 or higher from the total shoe count.

-        ((point 1 – point 2) x 1.5) divided by 80 (rounded to the nearest whole number)

4.    Minimum compensated Hero’s Shoes is set at 5

-        If the result from Step 3 is between 0 and 4 pairs of Hero’s Shoes, 5 shoes will be sent.

Let’s offer some real world examples to show how this works in practice.

Case 1 (Typical Case)

From 4/2 to 4/16, Hero’s Shoes were converted into Adventurer’s Shoes, totaling 1,300 shoes used.

From 4/2 to 4/16, 1 Hero’s Shoe (equivalent to 80 Adventurer’s Shoes) was used in co-op at Adventure Level 6 or Higher

(1,300– 80 = 1,220) x 1.5 = 1,830

Converting 1,830 Adventurer’s Shoes into Hero’s Shoes, we get approximately 23 Adventurer’s Shoes (rounded up from 22.9)

Case 2 (Below Compensation Quantity)

Between April 2 to April 16, Hero’s Shoes, when converted into Adventurer’s Shoes, equal 200 used.

From April 2 to April 16, no Hero’s shoes were used in co-op at Adventure Level 6 or higher

(200 – 0 = 200) x 1.5 = 300

Converting 300 Adventurer’s shoes into Hero’s Shoes results in approximately 3.75 shoes, which is less than 5. Therefore 5 Hero’s Shoes will be sent.

Case 3 (Exceeding Maximum Compensation Quantity)

Between April 2 to April 16, Hero’s Shoes, when converted into Adventurer’s Shoes, totals 5,000 Adventurer’s Shoes used.

From April 2 to April 16, 10 Hero’s Shoes (equivalent to 800 Adventurer’s Shoes) were used in co-op play at Adventure Level 6 or higher.

(5,000 – 800 = 4,200) x 1.5 = 6,300

Converting 6,300 Adventurer’s Shoes into Hero’s Shoes results in approximately 78.7 Hero’s Shoes, which exceeds 45 Hero’s Shoes. Therefore, 45 Hero’s Shoes will be sent.

Furthermore all new Masters of the Book who start the game between now and May 31 will receive 5 Hero’s Shoes.

We’re currently finalizing the timing for distributing these rewards, and will provide further details once we have confirmed it.

We understand that any criteria for compensation may not be completely satisfactory, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. The decision to incorporate the above factors was made with careful consideration. Hero’s Shoes vary significantly in value depending on the Adventure Level, which also encompasses Master of the Book experience and guaranteed rewards—which needed to be excluded.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and sub-optimal service provided to our esteemed Masters of the Book due to the number of errors that happened at the beginning of service.

Once again, we would like to sincerely thank you all for enjoying ASTRA: Knights of Veda. The development team, along with all staff, will do our best to provide much improved service and content in the near future.

Thank you
